Title: Luis and the Dartboard

I stood there with darts in my hand,
waiting on my turn.
Luis tilted his head,
eyes steady on me.
“Do you believe,” he asked,
“that anything can be fixed, Carla?”
I paused, curiosity meeting curiosity.
“I do,” I said.
He glanced toward the dartboard,
then back at me.
“What makes you believe that?”
I set the darts down on the table.
“There are a few ways I could explain it,” I told him.
“First, we must accept that what happens to us
happens for us—not to us.
Second, there are no coincidences.
Most of the time, when everything feels like it’s falling apart,
you have to ask yourself truthfully:
Is this realignment?
A push toward purpose?
A reset in disguise?”
I picked up the darts again,
weighing them in my hand.
“Anything can be fixed.
But sometimes it’s not about fixing the situation.
It’s about fixing ourselves—
so the world around us can shift with us.”
I threw the dart,
watched it land,
then turned to him with a quiet smile.
“So tell me—
what is it that makes you believe you can’t?”
✨ Sip of Truth: What we call “fixing” is often the invitation to transform ourselves first.
