Title: When the Past Comes Calling
Posted: August 17, 2025
Sometimes the past comes calling.
And we are told to keep the door closed.
“Keep moving forward.
It doesn’t deserve your attention or your time.”
But the past does not return without reason.
It comes as a challenge.
It comes as a lesson.
It comes back in fragments and pieces—
in reflections, comparisons,
in the quiet weight of a feeling.
Sometimes it returns so we can finally choose.
To move forward. To release.
Sometimes it returns to show us how much has changed.
Sometimes as a reset—
to remind us of who we never want to be again.
Sometimes simply to humble us.
For me, Chicago will always be meaningful.
It holds successes and failures,
growth and loss,
love found and love let go.
Freedom gained, freedom surrendered.
Smiles and tears. Butterflies and birds.
And every part of it—
even the pain—
was beautiful.
Because it’s never about whether we look back.
It’s about how we look back.
So be honest.
Be kind.
That past version of you
was strong enough to bring you here—
to this moment,
to this breath,
to this you.
✨ Sip of Truth: Looking back isn’t weakness—when done with kindness, it’s proof of how far you’ve come.
